Tennessee passes law to allow creationism into the science classroom

CBS news reports that the state of Tennessee has passed a bill to widen the scope of scientific teaching in schools beyond what is currently scientifically accepted.  While it doesn’t specifically mention Christian creationism or Intelligent Design, I don’t imagine it will teach Hindu creationism.  However there maybe a legal challenge to this law.

the Tennessee Science Teachers Association is on record describing the bill as “unnecessary, anti-scientific, and very likely unconstitutional.” Although the document is worded so as not to promote any particular doctrine, the thrust of the proposed law would elevate creationist theories about human evolution to the same status accorded by most educators to Darwin’s research.

Needless to say, I do not think that is a win for education.

This is why the rest of the world laughs at the U.S. You guys fail miserably. This is also why people are becoming stupider rather than smarter.

  2. Way to go Tennessee! Any state that makes Florida look less dumb, by comparison, is ok by me.
